This is a mashup of an adventure movie, an action thriller, and a horror movie. Charlize Theron is Sasha, a rock climber and dangerous sports enthusiast who travels to Australia to white-water kayak by herself deep in the wilderness where she runs into some trouble with a local serial killer.

Sasha sets up camp at the end of the day and hangs her backpack from a tree. The next morning she discovers that it is gone. She searches her campsite for it, and when she looks inside her tent she sees a snake crawling on her sleeping bag. We hear an explosive hissing sound from the snake as Sasha inhales loudly and panics, running away from the tent. We next see her paddling away on the river, without knowing exactly what happened to the snake, but it probably crawled away and then she packed up her tent. Sasha had no idea that finding a deadly snake in her sleeping bag would the least terrifying thing to happen to her on the rest of her journey down the river as soon she will be hunted by a serial-killing cannibal with a crossbow (Taron Egerton.)

The snake appears to be a live Southern Desert Banded Snake (aka Jan's Banded Snake) (Simoselaps bertholdi) a small mildly-venomous Australian snake that inhabits arid habitats and probably wouldn't be found in the wooded riparian habitat where she camped. Nevertheless, I congratulate the filmmakers for using a real native snake and not more CGI slop. (If it is CGI, and it's getting hard to tell now, then the artists did a great job.)

When the movie premiered on Netflix in April, 2026, Charlize Theron appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and talked about being on location in Australia where there were so many snakes that snake wranglers were hired to catch all the snakes they found at one of the locations where they were filming. They released the snakes at a second location, but it turned out that later the production moved to the second location to film, but nobody told the snake wranglers they were going to shoot there. She talked about seeing a snake at the new location and screaming and running away from it.
