This is based on the classic adventure novel by Daniel Defoe, published in 1719 and directed by the great Spanish filmmaker, Louis Bunuel. This was his first English language film, but it was made when he was making films in Mexico. The turtle scene is very brief.

On a journey to buy slaves in Africa, Robinson Crusoe is shipwrecked on an unknown island. We see him learn how to survive on the island for most of the movie. In the end, he has lived on the island for 28 years with his companion Friday, who Crusoe rescued from cannibals. To survive on the island, Crusoe learns to shoot birds and wild pigs, to domesticate wild goats, to grow food, and eat bird eggs. An announcer also tells us he learned to enjoy the savory flesh of sea turtles and their eggs as we see scenes of turtles on a beach and a man's hands scooping turtle eggs out of a nest in the sand.
