From the director who made the beautiful film Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring in which a boy tortures a frog, we get this film (which is much more violent) in which a young mute Korean woman whacks a frog with a stick to stun it, then bashes it on the ground and rips it apart alive with her bare hands, like an animal. She tears off a piece of a leg and tries to feed it to a caged bird. Besides killing for food, she also tortures fish and other animals, including herself. I got the impression her life has not been a bed of roses. This movie is not for those who think it's wrong to show animals suffering for entertainment or art. However, since the frog was killed quickly before it was dismembered, the scene was left in the movie by British censors who abide by strict rules against showing real live animals suffering in movies. They did cut other scenes.
