The Defiant Ones The Defiant Ones The Defiant Ones
Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier are two convicts chained together by thieir wrists who escaped when the truck transporting them and the rest of their chain gang crashed. They have been running all day, with the law in pursuit, when they spot a bullfrog in a swamp. We see a bullfrog and hear the sound of a bullfrog calling, but we do not see the expanding and contracting throat sack we should see when a male bullfrog calls. (At least they got the sound right, and didn't use a Pacific Treefrog, as other movies do.) The camera pans up from the frog to the two convicts holding sticks as they jump into the water and run towards the frog, splashing waving their sticks. Next we see them sitting by a small fire eating the frog. That must have been the slowest and dumbest bullfrog ever.
